Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

13 Jan 2023This is a good route between Dunmow (good bus service) and Braintree (train and bus services). Most is on the Flitch Way which is a disused railway track maintained now as a walking, cycling and horse riding route and with a cafe half way at Rayne. On leaving Dunmow going toward Braintree there is one place where the footpath is not well marked as only the post remains. It is where the footpath crosses Braintree Road and I have added a photo to show the gap between the gate and the hedge. It appears that you are walking into private property but you are entitled to use the footpath that takes you to the bypass and it does look as if it is used frequently by others judging by the footprints today (early January).
