Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

26 Mar 2024Great easy walk along coast then up former railway track. All tarmac. Fair few bikes.
Gets 5 for having excellent Railway pub on route where it crosses Killay!.

15 Mar 2024Really easy and nice - the long-way-round of it is easily made up for by hardly having to think or navigate - just hop on at one end and hop off at the other! The downsides for me were that it was fully tarmacked underfoot, which started to give me sore feet by the end, but would be ideal for wheels/buggies/scooters. And not the first time I've felt sad for Swansea that it's best asset (the bay) is cut off from the town by four lanes of constant traffic. If we'd had more energy we'd probably have done some of the seafront section on the sand. Nice to pass Blackpill Lido - anyone doing this route on a hot day, don't miss the free lido - perfect for a wade around in the shallows and an ice cream from the kiosk.

13 Mar 2024This is a great Slow Way that's incredibly easy to navigate. It mostly follows a dismantled railway line that snakes through nature reserves and woods, including Clyne Wood. Really enjoyed Swansea Bay's beach too.
Only negative is a short but busy stretch of road by County Hall in Swansea.
Gowswa One is shorter, but I'm fairly sure this is the better way to go if you've got the time.
Everyone in Gowerton and Swansea should give this route a go!.

20 May 2023A walk of two parts but both on made paths, traffic free, and easy to follow.
The first (or last) half is the cycle path following the line of the old railway. This is a popular and straightforward route with a gentle but continuous incline from the Swansea end rising to the Gowerton end. Easily cycleable or scootable. The other half along the Swansea promenade is entirely flat.
No access or navigation issues to report.
There are plenty of bailout/rest options including pubs and once you hit the prom (especially in summer) icecreams and/or coffee vans!
Very pleasant with lots to see. I went back the following weekend to explore some of the paths leading from it!.

22 Mar 2023Excellent route as not only do we get the excellent cycle path down Clyne Valley but also the might Railway pub near Upper Killay! Easy and straightforward and often scenic.
