17 Aug 2024Very direct walk/ferry. We walked around the park at the end rather than through it, as dogs are not allowed. But looked very pleasant for those walkinfy without dogs.

16 Aug 2024Really short and direct walk (and ferry ride) from Gosport to Portsmouth and Southsea train station.
We needed to take a detour around Victoria park which didn't allowed dogs and also might have been padlocked on the south east gate. The detour is obvious though.

12 Aug 2024Enjoyed the ferry ride from Gosport to Portsmouth harbour. It was easy with regular ferries and dogs were welcome. The gates at Victoria park, just before Portsmouth and Southsea station said that dogs weren't allowed in the park, but this could easily be avoided by staying on the southside of the train tracks for the last couple of hundred meters.

06 Mar 2023An easy, mostly flat walk with nice scenery at the start and finish. The walk began in Victoria Park which was starting to bloom for Spring and ended at the ferry port where you can see many ships along the historic dockyard. In between you’ll walk along a busy road but there is ample pavement and safe crossings. The return ferry ticket cost £4.30 and the journey only took a few minutes. Along the way you can take in sights of Portsmouth’s skyline and the Spinnaker Tower.
Note that when you get to Gunwharf Quays you want to stay outside the wall to continue along the ring road and look for the white underpass on the right under the railway tracks.

29 Dec 2021I agree with the previous reviewer - a pleasant and manageable walk. Plenty of facilities at Gunwharf Quays, and a lot of historic dockyard to explore nearby. And not just historic ships - I managed to see both the Royal Navy's aircraft carriers.

11 Jul 2021Good walk from Gosport to Portsmouth Town Station, easy to follow map on Slow Ways, surface conditions good, with flat pavement all the way. There are a couple of busy roads to cross, although dedicated crossings for them. There are station signs displayed enroute but on reaching Anglesey Road, they go right through the Guidhall Square, rather than left through (Slow Ways route) through the beautiful Victoria Park. Either way would bring you to Portsmouth & Southsea Station. This is an ideal walk for those starting out, around two miles and less than 30 mins walk and suitable for pushchairs / wheelchairs.
