Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

21 Feb 2024In principle, this is broadly the right route. Where a long-distance footpath links two places, it's generally better to follow it, because it will normally be better maintained and clearer on the ground. However, the gpx file for this walk does not reflect reality on the ground. Look at it closely - particularly the part through Robins Wood Hill: it is a series of straight lines. Either it was recorded with a faulty gps tracker or, more likely, it was manually edited after the event.
Some manual editing may be justified, where the person doing the walk realises that they went wrong and should have taken a different route. However, this track does not reflect reality on the ground and is misleading. I found the way up and down Robins Wood Hill to be very difficult to find. My own path criss-crossed what was supposed to be the official footpath, which wasn't at that spot.
Someone needs to do this walk again - ideally someone who knows it well - recording the track that they actually walked.
