An excellent route. Lots of amenities on the way in Gatley, Heald Green and Wilmslow. Quarry Bank Mill Great for a visit and Nixon’s Farm near half-way has a tea room, shop and large play areas for children. The Carrs in Wilmslow is a pretty, if busy, park on the banks of the Bollin.

Transport links are great, with trains and buses available at either end of the journey, as well as at Heald Green near the middle.

The route is fine for a pram or wheelchair between Gatley and Nixon’s Farm (although Scholes Park is tricky to navigate if it’s muddy from recent rain). However, the route from the farm to Wilmslow is not appropriate for prams or wheelchairs due to numerous stiles, kissing gates and terrain as you cross fields.
