Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

08 Jun 2023The route is reasonable up to the point just after Ferryhill Station where the route suggests following the footpath across a field rather than continuing on the path. By adding in this cut across a field (that no-one uses), there are 2 stiles added that do not need to be there.
The worst part of this route is from Bishop Middleham across to the edge of the Knotty Hill golf course as the route is just a point to point connection and bears no resemblance to the actual paths that need to be taken. If you don't have a decent map with the actual footpaths shown, then you'll have no chance of getting across to the golf course. It's also worth noting that this part of the route gets extremely muddy (approx ankle deep mud) during the autumn and winter months.
The final section going across the common is also misleading as this again just shows a straight line, but in reality it's a little bit of a dogleg with a gate to go through.
General accessibility - this route is not suitable for wheels.
