Description

Here are the differences between this route and Fermou1:
1) It avoids the overgrown, impassable footpath above Ferndale & follows Blaenllechau Road (not much traffic & excellent views as far as Exmoor).
2) It uses a different route through St Gwynno Forest (there may be a more direct one!). The rights of way which bisect the tracks on the map don't seem to exist, while all the tracks appear to be used by walkers/cyclists. Some are vehicle tracks while others have shrunk to paths; all seemed accessible.
3) Between Miskin and Penrhiwcaradog Farm, it uses the path which takes the slope at an angle (couldn't find the one going straight down, plus it would be very steep)

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

I think a more direct route could be found through St Gwynno Forest (had to find an alternative due to impassable/non-existent footpaths in Fermou1) but otherwise this is a good route. There’s a long walk along the road between Ferndale and the forest - not much traffic and excellent views as far as the sea and Exmoor.
