Description

I am offering an alternative to the presently (02June2024) offered route between Ferndown and Bournemouth. The main reason is that the presently offered route has one point where it goes through a river, where normally this point of the river is not crossed. The crossing points of the river are a little further West or, more further, to the East. The Route I am suggesting takes the bridge to the West of the presently suggested crossing point, which means using the New Road. There are further edits made to the presently offered route which suggest more off road and where there are no off road options, roads with less traffic have been chosen. It should also be known that some parts of the route are prone to flooding, making it more of a wade through water, when the river is running high. Although the route I have presented, has kept some of the river walk in place, there are some parts which remain difficult once the flooding resides which have been diverted to more easily walked paths. Further suggested Routes are possible as suggestions for times of heavy rainfall to avoid flooded paths

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

  1. Complete the survey training.
