Description
Very much the same route as Fazpol 1 but with the marking tidied and the section corrected at the Staffordshire/Warwickshire border. This route leaves Fazeley and follows the pavement of Watling Street until getting to the far side of Wilnecote. A series of footpaths through new housing estates takes you to the village of Birchmoor. From there it's pavement walking through quiet village streets and then into open countryside with superb views in all directions. The road then descends into Polesworth before you cross the road to follow Bridge Street as far as a pedestrian crossing. A footpath takes you the "back way" past the Abbey Church of St Editha to the meeting place on the High Street

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

13 Jun 2021I started this route in Polesworth. The route through Polesworth is safe and relaxing. There's a bit of a climb as you head south out of the village but the views you get from the road are superb as you look out across the countryside around you. Birchmoor is a quiet friendly village with a pub. The road through eventually delivers you over the M42 and through the county border into Staffordshire. The next section consists of crossing new housing estates using footpath and pavement as and when needed. As you reach Wilnecote you turn right on to Watling Street. This straight ancient way is still the main road but is paved throughout. Traffic is constant and can be noisy but the route is direct. There are numerous pubs, shops and eateries including a McDonalds drive through. Shortly after the crossing of the River Tame you pass the sign for Fazeley. The meeting point is not far from here. This route is safe, direct, offroad where it can be and beautiful in parts. I give it maximum points.
