Description
This route follows the blackwater valley path. It is quite loud due to the proximity of the A331, but it is a wooded area. Just west of the underpass is a diversion through a small nature reserve. This can be skipped by following the main path.
North Camp station connected Reading and Gatwick via Guildford. Ash Vale is the route to Waterloo. Near North camp is a refuse facility, but the station convenience makes up for it. Between North camp and Ash Vale there is a sandwich bar (the greedy pig) and a Tesco Express, but just south of the Ash Vale rail bridge is an Indian restaurant, a cafe, and a local convenience store. Walking north from Ash Vale along the canal gets you to the Basingstoke Canal Visitor Centre, where there is a cafe and a campsite

12 Dec 2021Nice easy route that passes through a nature reserve and woodland area. Unfortunately the A331 is nearby and quite noisy. There are picnic tables in the woodland area and a Cafe (The Greedy Pig) and Tesco Express near Ash Vale railway station.

09 May 2021Basically flat, a very pleasant walk, pavement at both ends and a section along the Blackwater Valley Route in the middle.
