Description
The original EmsMid 1 route was drawn rather loosely. Please use and review this accurate version instead.
The original route's line rarely sits on top of the actual path, in places it's 200m away and even the wrong side of a major A-road. It might misdirect in a couple of places.
Stagecoach bus routes 54 and both 60 intersect the route and there are train stations in Emsworth and Midhurst.
There are pubs in Woodmancote @ 3.5km, Walderton Pond @ 7.5km, Stoughton @ 9km, Chilgrove @ 13.5km, the Cadence Café is slightly off the route @ 20 km and another pub in Cocking @ 21km. There may be other facilities I didn't find online.
This route is faithful to the original version but personally I would take a different approach with a bit less road walking and a better chance of seeing Hawfinches and wild daffodils by using a different bridleway through West Dean Woods. It would incorporate more of the nearby long distance routes which are generally better maintained and waymarked than average. But I don't actually know the area, perhaps the designer of EmsMid 1 does and knows about the conditions or especially enjoyable paths

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
