Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

28 Aug 2022This route has some really lovely moments, especially in the middle. There are parts that are simply unpleasant but fine for a Slow Ways route, like the long slog into Ely on a major road with narrow pavements and the long walk out of Littleport that avoids the High Street!
That said, the most important shortcoming is just out of Littleport - the crossing of the A10 doesn't exist. I mean, if you really wanted to follow the line, as I did, there is the shadow of a path trodden by travellers who ended up in my situation that cuts through the patches of trees on both sides of the A10, but it's definitely not a real crossing, and it's definitely not safe or pleasant. The second crossing of the A10, closer to Ely, is fine, but still generally not safe or pleasant.
I like the idea of there being a route that doesn't simply use the riverside between Ely and Littleport, but this one unfortunately doesn't work!.
