Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Hiking Historian
17 May 2022A foot-only route between two modest-sized towns with good transport links and shops.
First part of route is along a well-paved towpath on the Shropshire Union Canal as far as Stoak, from where a lengthy section of country walking across the marshes, inhabited by sheep and cows, takes place.
From Thornton-le-Moors, the route is along paved roads, until the route enters Ince, when in becomes unpaid. It's only a short stretch, however, before it becomes a track running out across Frodsham Marsh. A good open rural route, and then into Frodsham itself, full of good pubs and historic buildings.
As I've said, a foot-only route, due to the terrain, but a pleasant country route, only somewhat marred by heavy industry at the edge of civilisation.
