17 Dec 2022I walked this from Ealing to Chiswick (really, Turnham Green), on a freeze Saturday afternoon. The ground was frozen, with some snow and slipperyness in places.
It's a mostly residential route, with some good parks, Ealing Common, and the bit near the end. I don't really have much to say, as it was easy going, and safe.

23 Oct 2022I walked from Chiswick (Turnham Green tube) to Ealing Broadway.
This is a good direct route between these two towns. There is some variety but it is mostly roadside pavement walking with parks at either end. There are level crossings in Acton and this held me up for 10 minutes as 3 trains passed by (why no bench?). The pavements and park paths are generally smooth and good for wheels. The route takes you across the grass on Ealing Common, but there are paths around the edge if this is a problem for wheels (it can get very soft when in winter).

03 Feb 2022I walked this route from Chiswick to Ealing Broadway, and I thought it was a perfectly fine slow Waze route! There’s a bit of walking through lovely commons, through quiet residential neighborhoods, and only short stretches along busier roads. Overall a great link between these two points, with lots of shops and restaurants on both ends.
I also walked it before sunrise, and the vast majority of the route was very well lit.
Only dinged a star because there’s a long middle stretch along a somewhat large and somewhat industrial road that was just slightly less than pleasant to walk along.

11 Aug 2021A nice direct route which comes close to being perfect (which is to say it's almost exactly how I would design this route!).
It's an urban mix of shops and cafes, residential, green parks, and some business/trade use still just clinging on in Acton.
There is one not-nice road crossing and that is unsurprisingly the A406 North Circular at Ealing Common. The route line goes straight across the North Circular from Crossland Avenue to the common - you will be exceptionally lucky if you can do this. There is a 'refuge' crossing, a tiny begrudging refuge it is, about 50 - 100 metres south of the route line, and this is the only possibility. Providing the traffic stays slow it is safe, but the common and the people around it deserve better.
The route goes past Acton Town station (District Line) - there is a wonderful Transport Museum here, it's hardly ever open, but on opening days this would be the way to walk there! There are some good refreshment options at Acton Town.
Bollo Lane - this is one of my favourite roads in the area. It follows the line of one of London's lost rivers - the Bollo Brook. The lane retains some of its old industrial existence, but modern luxury flats are encroaching.
The route finishes with a walk through Acton Green Common, and then goes under a railway bridge to Chiswick Common. The path under the bridge is quite narrow and busy - this is the only part of the route I would change - I'd stay north of the railway and cross under at Turnham Green station, where there is an interesting mural display of Chiswick history in maps and pictures, and a wide pavement.
All in all I think this is a really good Slow Ways route - direct and interesting - and I'd walk it again.

04 May 2021Quick, direct route that largely avoids main roads. There's a slightly industrial section in the middle which is not particularly pleasant, but nothing dangerous or difficult to navigate.

03 May 2021Excellent route, mostly through residential areas. Lots of zebra crossings which is nice. Is mostly lit by streetlamps, and passes by useful shops and stations. Route may look windy but is actually quite straight forward in person.
