This was a good walk using a combination of shared cycle path, roads and footpaths. Well signed in the main with most of the route well used. After exiting Durham you go through a big retail park then out into the countryside. It looked to be an old railway line so easy going. Just a short section a bit more overgrown climbing into West Rainton. Some places were muddy underfoot but this is typical of this season in this area.
