Description
Corrected version of Dudrow one, avoiding the inaccessible sections. Goes from central Dudley through Dixons Green and Buffery Park. Passes through Warrens Hall Park near Cobb's Engine House. Having gone through the neighbourhoods of Springfield and the Knowle including a sharp ascent of Hawes Hill, the final section follows the pavements of main roads to the meeting place at Rowley Regis Railway Station. Some track walking but mainly pavement. Quite hilly

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

08 May 2023I walked this route from Dudley today. Overall a pretty good walk, and definitely a good work out. The highlight are the views from the hills, particularly the view of Cobb's Engine House (photo 7).
The lowlight is the climb back up the hill up to Hawes Lane, which you had just left earlier. The direct route along Hawes Lane would be infinitely easier, and i'd love to hear opinions as to whether the reviewers think the 'diversion' is worthwhile.
It is all doable and can be recommended. Perhaps i'm just being a wuss at the seemingly 'unnecessary' diversion. I was definitely glad to reach the end though!.

08 Nov 2021An enjoyable, if somewhat hilly walk. Starting from Rowley Regis, I found the climb towards Rowley Regis (the meeting point isn't really in Rowley Regis itself and I think needs moving) reasonably direct but gentle, along the pavements of the main road. Getting offroad, the route cuts down St Lukes Close and follows a path down a steep hill. The path is somewhat overgrown but passable and the descent is steep, but the views are amazing. The wisdom of following this path seems questionable when, having entered a quiet residential area you find yourself climbing again. It's the price for leaving the main road. The next section uses a series of footpaths through residential areas to get to Warren Hall Park, which is one of the most enjoyable sections of the walk. The route through Dudley makes the most of green spaces, including Buffery Park and beyond there a short climb through an industrial area delivers you to the edge of mid town. Entry to the town centre is via an ornate footbridge and then the rather charming 'Long Entry" (an alleyway). It's not long from there , through the central market place to the meeting place by the bus station. This is route is a good balance of pavement and offroad and is safe and reasonably direct. However, the rise and fall of the footpath section in Tippity Green, enjoyable as it was, felt like unnecessary exercise in what was always going to be quite a hilly route. Overall though, I enjoyed it.

15 May 2023I see what you mean about Hawes Lane. I wonder if I would have included the diversion had I not already been walking Dudrow one. I'm always happy to try more direct versions!
