Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

14 May 2023May 2023. Direction: Penarth to Dinas Powis.
A functional and fairly direct mainly urban Slow Way, initially through the back alleys of Penarth, then joining the Ash Path and finally through Murch and Eastbrook suburbia into Dinas Powis. The Ash Path was the highlight and although metalled, there`s a very narrow section through the fields between Penarth and Murch.

29 May 2022This is a really simple urban route between Dinas Powys and Penarth. Considering how urban it is, it is surprisingly free of roads. Most of the route is along back alleys and paths between houses or residential areas and there is even part that is alongside fields where horses are grazing. The whole route is very easy underfoot on metalled paths and although it isn't dead flat, anywhere where there is an incline is very gentle. This shouldn't be too difficult to wheel but as there are back alleys, not all the paths are well maintained and there are a few barriers.

29 May 2022Fromm Dinas Powis railway station the route runs parallel for a short while and then connects with a housing estate. The route is fairly flat all the way with a couple of short inclines. Finally approaching Penarth railway station the last mile is characterised by a number of short cuts through rear lanes to the local houses to complete the journey.

08 Jan 2022 (edited 12 Oct 2022)Not the most exciting route, but it has the benefit of being direct and should be walkable in all weathers.
