Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

09 Mar 2024March 2024. Direction: Dinas Powis to Cardiff.
Although it had been around 5 or 6 days since the last heavy rain, the fields and woodland paths were still very boggy for most of the way - Ok in boots, but hard going. I did have a couple of navigational problems on this route. In Michaelston-le-Pit, the footpath leading into the village was not easy to spot from down near the stream. You need to go to the top of the field to see it. Also, I couldn`t find the footpath leaving the lane at Meadowvale Farm and ended up taking the next footpath along the lane through the fields and then a right turn after the second field to re-join the planned path. Otherwise, this was a really good rural section of the walk. The long loop through Leckwith Woods does add on a fair distance, so this is not a very direct route, but woods are really nice - it would be a great walk when the ground has dried out and maybe a little later in the year.
The route into Cardiff is a bit of a slog, but maybe a bit more varied than the Penarth Road route in Dincar 3.

10 Oct 2022This is a route which has much to recommend it. A nice rural walk using lesser-used footpaths - you wouldn't think you were just outside the capital!
Mostly well marked, there is one area which may cause some difficulty when exiting West Hill Wood but with careful observation, you should be able to find the path. Being somewhat out of the way, a few of the stiles are in need of repairs but nothing too bad. The roads are quite busy when you actually enter Cardiff and they were a little monotonous to walk along, but all in all a pleasant route.
