Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

19 Oct 2022 (edited 27 Jun 2023)Just arm-chair reviewing this so it can be flagged for accuracy (not following PRoW) and access (routes marked as PRoW but No Entry signs), and safety - the unexpected river crossing - yikes!.

15 May 2021A previous reviewer has highlighted the difficulties with this route with the paths out of Denbigh and crossing the river. There are also issues at the Mold end of the walk from where we walked. So we cannot really recommend this route in its current form. I will be uploading an alternative that incorporates the best of this route and some alternative paths at the Mold and Denbigh ends.

10 May 2021Today I walked from Denbigh to Mold. I used slow ways route when possible but several times it wasn’t! For example near the start we had to cross a river at GR 068656. This was to gain access to a disused railway track. The old bridge over the river is fenced off and there is a sign saying that it is dangerous to cross. Nearby the farmer had put fences across the river which we used to cross (see photo) .The railway track is not a public right-of-way. However we did walk along it (as the slow ways route suggested) until we reached the main road A525 (GR078649). There was no public right-of-way from there along the disused railway so we had to follow the main road to GR 084631. When we got back to the disused railway (see 2nd photo) it was clear that there was no way to have legally walked along it. We followed the ‘slow ways’ route for a short while to grid reference 097632 where the OS map clearly showed there should have been a public right of way but there wasn’t! Instead we continued along the road, turning left in Llanysys to re-join the ‘slow ways’ route. However when we got to GR 106634, again The OS map showed a path but there was not one. We stayed on the road. At GR 113635 ‘slow ways’ suggested we turn sharp left but there was no public right-of-way so again we continued on the road. Having rather lost faith in the route by now we continued on the road until we rejoined slow ways at GR 135634 and so on into Moel Fammau country Park.
