Description
A slightly more direct route from Denshaw to Marsden. This mainly uses established long distance footpaths variously sections of the Oldham Way, Pennine Bridleway, GM Ringway and the Pennine Way before descending to Marsden along an old packhorse route.
Note: A substantial section of this route crosses high and open moorland. Although the path is clear on the ground throughout appropriate footwear and clothing is required. In particular caution should be exercised in poor weather conditions as the path could be difficult to locate in fog or low cloud.
This route can be combined with DenUpp 1 (slightly extended to start from Greenfield station) to create an excellent hill walk connected by rail

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
