17 Mar 2024I completed this walk today walking south from Darlaston. A short and fairly enjoyable walk. Not much to add to the reviews already here, apart from there was sadly a bit of fly tipping around when I did the walk, but it generally felt safe and it tries to avoid the main roads and uses cut-throughs/alleyways where possible. Can still be recommended.

26 Aug 2023Urban walk all on tarmac, safe road crossings. At two miles services are irrelevant. Well plotted so easy to follow.
Starting from the bus station at Wednesbury where a significant sculpture has an oriental feel. The route misses any shops of the town and climbs to pass the church, this hill could perhaps be avoided but takes in a small park. Dropping back down no help to cross the next road but no issue then it's straight along a quiet road which has the advantage of open space over the fence and a strip of grass to add distance from any traffic.
Opposite the impressive school building we turn onto a minor road and take a series of surfaced footpaths to a main road which needs crossing. Again the route misses the town services unless you want a fancy hair do.
An easy walk but no significant points of interest so I struggle to offer pictures.

21 Jun 2023 (edited 23 Jun 2023)Walked from Wednesbury to Darlaston. An easy and fairly direct route, mostly on pavements and entirely on paved surfaces.
From Wednesbury bus station, we follow the main road uphill and round the corner to find a pelican crossing, then double back to follow a tarmac path steeply uphill through a small park. We then go down residential streets past the two churches, cross Manor House Road and head up Old Park Road. Sadly this largely fails to live up to its name, passing industrial buildings and running alongside a small park, then up past houses to Joynson Road where we turn left. A mixture of paved alleyways and residential streets lead us up to Darlaston, where the rather uninspiring meeting point is at a bus stop under the Asda car park.

23 Nov 2021A direct and safe walk. My preference is for the Wednesbury end but that is because, it turns out, that the Darlaston meeting place is in a slightly strange spot and the route bypasses or doesn't reach Darlaston's best features. Setting off from the meeting place at Wednesbury, you're soon crossing a park where John Wesley preached. Beyond there is a short quiet walk along pavement adjacent to two churches and then a long stretch along Old Park Road which is mainly residential. A series of footpaths between residential roads deliver you near Walsall Road at the centre of Darlaston. The actual meeting point is by the bus stops outside Asda and could probably do with moving to the centre itself, which has benches and some interesting independent shops. A perfectly functional Slow Way.
