Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

23 Feb 2023Central Park Dagenham is currently undergoing a major landscaping project. The route through it whilst it was open was surrounded by large excavations and according to local people it is often closed.
This is effectively the only green part of this route, the remainder being all side streets and busy main roads and currently there is no sensible alternative.

08 Apr 2022After downloading the GPX file and uploading it to OS maps, we followed the route from the start point at Romford station.
Go under the underpass to avoid crossing the busy road near Queens Hospital.
Once you’re out of Romford town centre the route tries to keep you off the main roads for the majority of the way up to the park, walking through well kept residential streets.
Take a little look in Rush Green Natural Park gardens and allotments if it’s open.
The route takes you through Central Park. This has lots of flat open grass, an outdoor gym and two play areas (one either side of the park). It's a good place to let the dog off the lead for a run or let the children play in the play areas).
When you leave the park, the route passes through more residential areas and a small section of a commercial area.
The route ends on Dagenham Heathway which is a bustling multi cultural high street with an indoor shopping center, cafes and pubs and a tube station (district line).
An urban route that would be good for those that can’t walk very long distances, those with children and dogs. Suitable for wheelchairs, bikes and scooters as good paths the entire route.

01 May 2023The local council website says the works won't be finished until mid 2024. Yikes!
But I think there is a (greener) way around using The Chase nature reserve and Eastbrookend Country Park, using part of the RomSou 1 route. I'll upload that as an alternative.
