Description

Alternative off road route from Cuckfield to Haywards Heath using cross country footpaths some of which are single track. This route will be muddy after wet weather and has a stile (to mark later) and two ? gates. Coming into Haywards Heath you exit the woodland into a new housing estate, take the path that is sharp right down a flight of very shallow steps. Follow around to the left with a playground and drainage pond to your right and houses to your left. Continue straght on into the woodland and turn sharp right to pick up the footpath again.

An off road route which passes through some attractive woods and offers some views south to Downs. You may get to see the ponies who live in the field by Horsgate. I'm pleased to see that the footpath by Penlands Farm is now open again. Walked in mid summer after a period of rain the paths are quite muddy and overgrown in places. In winter it can be very muddy. There are two stiles, plank bridges and a boardwalk.
As the route is longer, muddier and has more obstacles than CUCHAY Two, I'd probably save this route for a recreational stroll.
