10 Jan 2024Functional, direct and very easy to navigate. Plenty of traffic too. Which combination makes this a dull route that is exactly what Google and other apps will suggest. Good if it's dark or you are in a hurry I suppose.
Note you only need use the flights of steps in the survey photos to get down to the train platforms, not technically on the route at Crystal Palace. And at Elmer's End there are obvious alternatives close by.

23 May 2021Undoubtedly the most direct and accessible route between these two points, but it's along a busy road so not especially interesting or beautiful. A means to an end (no pun intended) rather than an end in itself. The route as a whole is generally downhill, relatively steeply so at the beginning.
Good for access, thanks for three stations and numerous bus stops along the route, and has lots of places to eat or purchase food.
If you have time, a detour into either Crystal Palace Park (at the start) or South Norwood Country Park (near the end) would be a bit improvement. The route also passes Betts Park (in the middle) which has open space and seating, and is more accessible (level access & path quality) that the other parks.
