Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Hiking Historian
13 Nov 2022An alternate route across fields rather than the mostly canal route of the original route, which is very similar to LITMAG.
From the centre of Crosby, a road walk to Thornton. Onto Holgate, where the road becomes a footpath, then crossing the bypass onto good tarmac paths through the green pastures of Lunt.
From the village, a farm track to the Alt. Once over the bridge, along the brook, until we meet the old railway. A switchback over an old railway bridge, and along a track to the road (technically a private track, but it's been open to walkers for as long as I can remember, but there are nearby footpaths if you don't want to risk it), then along roads and the canal to the end.
A great route through fields and meadows as opposed to the canal of the original. It was designed to be as accessible as possible, but unfortunately there are steps to the bridge over the river Alt.
