Description

A shortened version of CRETIV(1). This route does not go to Cheriton Fitzpayne but takes a more direct line between the A3072 at Windmill Plantation and Stockley Pomeroy. Still an excellent rural route using byways, footpaths and quiet country lanes in the most part. There is however on both routes a short (200metre) section along the A3072 where care is needed

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

I walked this route in the Crediton-Tiverton. Overall a very pleasant route. I recommend taking the short detour to the top of Raddon Hill to admire the 360 views.
The short section on the main road is the only issue with this route in my opinion. About half of it does not have a grass verge so you have to walk on the road. I got around this by walking the edge of the field parallel to the road to a gate close to the crossing point. There is enough grass verge to cross the road safely.

I got back to my start point by taking the bus to Exeter (55 or 155) and then a train from Exeter Central to Crediton (Bus 5 or 369 also available).

This is a great Slow Way. I had the pleasure of Tim (who made the route) leading me through it in person. Glorious countryside and quite possibly the best way to get between Tiverton and Crediton. Misses out on a 5th star only because of a short section of undesirable road walking.
