Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

27 Apr 2024 (edited 13 May 2024)Not walked the route, but in the research before hand, I agree with many of the points risen by the previous reviewer: the section by Fedw doesn't appear to exist any more (it features on Explorer maps, but not on the Standard); and the section from Wern appears to go along a bridleway which has been blocked by fencing, and then doesn't exist at all uphill as it approaches Carrog Plantation.
Rest of the route looks great, and can't wait to walk it!.

27 Oct 2021Overall, this is a good route with a variety of scenery and mostly well-marked paths. However, there are a couple of sections with access issues which make this route unsuitable (will upload revised route).
1) The right of way linking the road at Fedw with the road across the valley (north of Carrog) - appears to be disused and includes several hazards: a stile across a diagonal barbed wire fence, leading straight onto a near-vertical bank of earth above the stream (about 3m wide, ankle deep). After using a branch to abseil down the bank, I splashed across the stream (only slightly damp socks and luckily didn’t slip on the stones). Don’t go this way - instead, stay on the road from Fedw to Carrog.
2) Where the route crosses the A5, I couldn’t find the path going uphill (heading south). What’s more, further up this hill the Slow Ways route covers an area of fields and forest where no paths are marked on the OS map (an error?). Instead, I walked a few minutes along the A5 to Llidiart y Parc (pavement on this section), then through the village to the edge of the forest. Path markers guide you through the forest and back onto the Slow Ways route.
