Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

28 Aug 2023We walked 90% of this route, ending at Littleworth Road where we went straight on to join the Esher-Kingston route. Handily, there is a nice pub (The Swan Inn) at the point where we stopped.
Very pleasant walk, avoiding the main roads and a handy crossing place over the A3.

26 Feb 2022Quite a nice route. A lot of forest walking and green paths, and uses quiet roads where roads are unavoidable. Some potentially muddy sections e.g. on Arbrook Common. We found the section on Fairmile Common a little confusing going west, paths not clear.
One thing - our walk in Feb 2022 encountered a large fallen tree (see photo) completely blocking the footbridge just south of Middle Pond near Fairmile. We were able to clamber over the trunk and make an alternative crossing. Hopefully the tree will soon be cleared sufficiently to use the footbridge again.
Otherwise no access issues at all for walkers and a pleasant walk.

02 Jun 2021Broadly very good route away from traffic to/from Cobham. I might suggest that the section to the south of the A3 through Fairmile common could be straightened as it zig-zags on less obvious paths. I would recommend passing to the north of Middle Pond. Common GPS traces suggest this is a more frequently-used route though would be a touch more blighted by traffic noise from the Esher bypass.

30 Apr 2021The route looks very much like one I use to cycle between Cobham and Esher. I had expected there would be some narrative to help those new to the route - happy to add one if required.
