Description
Route is identical to Clatoo One from Clapham Junction to Wandsworth Common. At the Common it sticks to the paved path and avoids the boggy wooded corridor. Leaves the Common further on to join the A214 into Tooting rather than having to make the tricky crossing of the A214 on the Common. The route follows the main roads through Tooting rather than using residential side streets, to make for a more interesting walk

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

20 Apr 202320th April 2023 - nice walk, lovely day! Majority on pavement so it was nice to change it up when going through Wandsworth Common. Slight incline from Tooting Broadway to Tooting Bec. Saw a Heron on the Common!
Safe & accurate - would walk again!.

11 Jan 2023I walked Tooting to Clapham Junction station. Pleasant section through Wandsworth Common and passing ponds. Turn off Trinity Road at crossing lights to join surfaced cycle track towards railway bridge. Path next to Bellevue Road is quite muddy. Continue along Eckstein Road to access cafes and shops in St. John's Road.

03 Aug 2022I really enjoyed walking this route from Clapham Junction to my hometown of Tooting with fellow Slow wayers. The walk through Wandsworth Common was especially pleasant. Tooting High street is a wonderland when it comes to resturants and cafes! I'd recommend visiting Lahore Karahi or Dawat for delicious authentic Pakistani food!.

25 Jul 2022A much more enjoyable version of the walk, with the improvement of the crossing of Wandsworth Common, elminating the tricky road crossing on the Common, and the use of the main roads into Tooting, including the link with Tooting Bec tube station. The road sections are all on wide pavements. Direct, interesting, safe, easy to follow, links to transport and with a multitude of refreshment options at either end. Full marks.

24 Jul 2022It was a lovely evening at the end of a lovely day with lovely friends which may make me overestimate this route!
The walk along Bolingbroke Grove was mostly alongside Wandsworth Common therefore pleasant, especially as the road wasn’t too busy. Crossing the Common on a tarmacked path away from the road was good. The railway bridge had slopes and cycle barriers. The crossroads at the end of the Common had pedestrian lights.
Trinity Road gradually got a bit narrower and busier towards Tooting Bec Station. Upper Tooting Road was buzzing with multi-cultural life, at 6.30pm. If only I’d been looking for food at this point – the choice was exciting. There were some interesting buildings too. A nice mixture of places to walk through.

24 Jul 2022I walked from Clapham to Tooting.
An evening walk starting close to the Northcote Road, newly traffic free so people friendly with a buzz.
Urban roads leading to Wandsworth Common with a variety of trees including Service Trees (a favourite). A relaxed open space worth a wander if you're not in a hurry.
More urban roads with wide pavements lead to Upper Tooting Road an interesting busy bustling high street with lots to see places to eat, markets, shops, and places of worship. It ends with Edward VII overlooking the tube station and fancy light posts.
A direct walk with variety and interest. Good for wheels, fat, curbs but no steps.

23 Jul 2022I walked from Clapham Junction to Tooting, and I really loved this route. Two out of four segments are really fantastic and two more are perfectly good for Slow Ways routes!
First, leaving Clapham Junction to Wandsworth Common are really good streets with good pavements and pleasant walking.
The bit through Wandsworth Common is so good. I don't even know how to describe how good it is! 10/10! A real standout. Incredibly lovely on a Sunday evening.
The stretch along Trinity Road was fine, albeit a bit dull and the road a bit bigger and busier than I would have liked. The pavement is generous and there are occasional shops and restaurants, so it's not terrible!
Finally, Tooting High Street is busy and active but fantastic for walking. Just imagine the great variety of restaurants at your fingertips! How fantastic is that.
