Description
I really enjoyed this hike. Lots of rolling hills, great views and beautiful woodland. There are also gates, stiles, steps and steep slopes. I created it in response to Trainman8's negative review of Chuexe One, trying to make the route shorter, cutting out the dangerous busy lanes and avoiding the industrial estate. There is a small amount of lane walking and some creative use of open access land in Haldon Forest. I will be walking this route again, but a shorter (and better?) Slow Way should be possible. The crossing through Haldon Forest could be cleaner, but the biggest challenge is getting over (or under) the A roads without taking a major detour

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

18 Jan 2023I walked this route during a heavy snowfall and with the ground frozen. However I still found it easy to follow and it was an enjoyable walk. The only reason for not giving this a 5* is the long road section between Haldon Forest and Chudleigh. However when I walked it, a distance of about 2 miles only one car came past me. This may of course had something to do with the snowy conditions. There are grass verges alongside the road. The route through Haldon Forest was easy to follow, even in the snow. There are facilities about half-way along the route at Kenford, including a cafe, a shop and a pub. There is also the Double Locks a popular waterside pub near Exeter. The walk does however have steep sections with multiple steps, and stiles.

30 Oct 2022Pleasant walk between Chudleigh and Exeter. Best bits:
- Crossing Haldon Forest,
- The section between Kennford and Exminster which offer far reaching views.
Why this is not a 5 star route:
- You can pretty much always hear the A38,
- A bit more lane walking than I would have wanted.
Still a very good route that I enjoyed walking and would recommend.

24 Jun 2021I created this route and really enjoyed walking it. It falls short of five stars because of some walking on narrow lanes and it being longer than it should be.... that all said, I'll certainly be walking it again. Love deep lush paths and great views across the Exe.
