Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Mr Neil Hartley
29 Jun 2023Straightforward from the railway to the canal and over the motorway although the routing near the canal is shown on the wrong road, it should be on Crosse Hall Lane. Beyond the motorway the route shown turns left off the quiet road and heads through woods that can become a bit misleading and will get muddy. As the road is just a farm access it would be better to follow this and rejoin the route near the farm, PROW signposted. Follows through Healey Nab which is a pleasant area. The route then down to Moor Road will get muddy as I know through experience. Steep climb up the road and then back onto a good sheep track at the very top of the road. Follow this down to the valley, over the bridge and up the other side. Path generally good although a little rocky. Marked route beyond this is unsuitable as it eventually follows the line of a watercourse and is very swampy. Better to stay on the line of the sheep track and rejoin the route at the second left turn. Then heads up on a rough but walkable track and then links up to Rivington Road. The track then off the road is similar but already holds some water in summer so will be pretty wet in winter. Runs out at Belmont. Route ok but some rerouting required.
