03 Mar 2024Agree with the first reviewer that this route is dangerous. The stretch along Vinnetrow Rd requires walking down a fast road with a blind bend and no pavement. Then crossing the Bognor Rd A259 is really fast and dangerous. The rest of it is ok, but not especially pleasant. Needs work! Walked this on 26/11/23.

25 Jul 2021I combined CHIWES One with WESARU One to walk from Arundel to Chichester on 23/07/2021.
The route is well traced on the map, and from Westergate to the outskirts of Chichester the route is easy to follow. Aldingbourne and Oving are attractive villages, with the Gribble Inn at Oving being worth a short detour for refreshments. The section through the old Tangmere WWII fighter airfield is interesting, particularly the old blast pens being repurposed as compost dumps.
The problems start when you reach the A259. This is a busy dual carriageway which has to be crossed, in two stages waiting in the armco barriers in the central reservation. The section past the new warehouses at Vinnetrow Farm business centre is overgrown and little used. This is followed by a section walking along Vinnetrow Road which is a busy rat run with no pavements and very narrow verges. It is too dangerous for pedestrians. As soon as I could I headed off into the Lakeside Holiday Park and took an alternative path beside the lakes. A short section walking alongside the busy road seems to be unavoidable on the current route.

19 Mar 2024How about leaving Chichester along B2144 (Oving Road, Shopwyke Road, Tangmere Road) then turning off along Oving Road to pick up the route again at Church Road, Oving? The crossing at the A27 has pedestrian lights. I can re-plot this as Chiwes two.
