Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

I walked this route east to Sherston and generally it's very good and recommended; I have just a few comments. Out of Chipping Sodbury I just followed the Frome valley way as far as Old Sodbury, which is an easy route across fields, so I cannot comment on the marked route further north, it may be just as good. The only tricky part of the route was getting out of Old Sodbury: once you have passed the church and school and gone through the gate, keep up the hill as you veer right, rather than the ditch below. There are nettles and the path is not very clear as it skirts a narrow ledge above the ditch (to your right). But there are signposts if you can find them, and soon enough you come out to fields and then the walk is glorious, over fields and lanes with the occasional lovely village like Badminton which has a shop. Finally from Luckington to Sherston it is a shaded wooded path. Overall highly recommended.
