Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

06 Jul 2023I walked this route from Bognor to Chichester in July. It starts with a pleasant section along the promenade, then heads inland along Fish Lane through Aldwick and a parade of shops at Rose Green. From Aldwick, the route strikes out across country along field paths through South and North Mundham. The route is well marked on the map and well signed on the ground. There were a couple of kissing gates but no stiles along the way. The fields are mainly arable, used for growing stuff rather than grazing animals.
At North Mundham, I decided to break off from this route to take the path across to Hunston then follow the Chichester Canal path into Chi. So my review is for the Bognor to North Mundham section only. I agree with the previous reviewer, the ideal Slow Way from Chichester to Bognor would be to use SELCHI One from Chi to South Mundham, then pick up this route CHIBOG One from South Mundham to Bognor.
When walked, the fields were all bone dry but the section around Pagham Rife between Copyhold Farm and South Mundham does look like it gets pretty soggy in the winter. No facilities after Aldwick before Chichester.

02 May 2022It is better to follow the canal into (or out) of Chichester from Hunston, following the initial part of the route to Selsey (SelChi) rather than through Whyke. It makes for a nicer route into/out of the city than using residential streets.

13 Jun 2021The walk itself was fine, not especially interesting, just a walk down quiet country lanes and across flat farmland. There was one bridge over the railway that involved steps (about 20 on each side). There was also a field with a kissing gate at each end, and I'd imagine the fields bit would be muddy in winter. In summer (June), some of the paths were very narrow (single file) due to overgrown vegetation. So overall, I don't think this route is suitable for wheels. It was very flat though. As for the route, we struggled to find the connection between Dallaway Road and Whyke Road. It is actually a bit further north (off Eastland Road) rather than as marked on the route map file. And to cross the A27, you follow the path to the right and use the bridge, rather than try and cross the dual carriageway! Other than this the routemap was roughly accurate (apart from the weird diversion up Palmer Place, which we ignored!) Overall, we found the route to be a quick and quiet way to get from Chichester to Bognor, so in that respect it succeeds :) (i took pics but can't get them from phone to laptop and can't login to site from phone for some reason - not recognising the password and Chrome password saving isn't working either).

02 May 2022It does indeed get very boggy/flooded on one of the fields in winter. We walk that bit regularly, but avoid it in the depths of winter.
