Report

Nice walk, very green and peaceful, particularly once you get away from the A12. Paper Mill lock at the halfway point has a cafe, and you can sit out on the canal with a cup of tea and rest your feet. River path gets very muddy and floods in places after heavy rain, so not recommended when the water is high.

A popular route along the canal. Off road once you have left the town's at each end. Sections can be muddy after rain or flood.

Follow the canal, can get a bit soggy as you get to Paper Mill Lock.

    A straightforward route with hardly any roads to cross (and no major ones!). Just follow the Chelmer. Also plenty of jumping on / off points along the way for the villages along the route.
