I walked from Chepstow to Lydney - an enjoyable walk with a few stiles and bridges verging on being overgrown, but I always managed to get through. One stile at the bottom of a field NE of Boughspring was totally overgrown but it was possible to squeeze through the fence nearby.
There are several cornfields to cross, which was fine today as the soil was dry and the corn had been cut, but it may not always be so easy.
Also, the footpath closest to Lydney turned out to be an unnecessary detour across waterlogged fields (during a dry spell!). If walking towards Lydney, stay on the track across Aylburton Mead until it joins another track, then turn right. If leaving Lydney, go past the electric works and ignore the footpath sign on your left. Instead, go a few metres further and take the track on your left.
There’s a tearoom on the main road near Woolaston, roughly half way.

Nice long walk from Lydney to Chepstow, very muddy in places even though the weather was fabulous.

Takes you through a lot of farmland and the signage for rights of way is absent a lot, especially near the Lydney end meaning a degree of reliance on map and GPS to make sure I wasn't walking anywhere I shouldn't be. Lots of stiles, narrow bridges and gates, many of which were locked and had to be climbed over.

The route was mainly flat although when there are hills they are steep especially coming out of chepstow, but you are rewarded with great views over the River Severn.

This is not a route to do if you are freaked out by cows. On several occasions I was swamped by them, nosing at my rucksack and following me about. Doesn't bother me, but it might some.

At one point the route and OS map take you through Alvington Court Farm, the nice lady at the farm told me they'd put a stile in the field to the south which means you can avoid walking through the farm and very muddy cowfield. Too late for me, but worth using to avoid mud and cow****.

Overall, nice long walk with great views just a shame about lack of right of way signage in some places.
