I agree with the previous reviewers that this is generally a very pleasant route. There are numerous side streets to take you out of Cheltenham along pleasant routes including Pittville Park (recommended). At the racecourse there was a notice saying the footpath was closed, but I continued anyway! It was a bit overgrown but navigable. The road crossing at Southam Lane is rather tricky with traffic, but a very short stretch.

A relatively easy route, but with many stiles, some of them rather rickety, and many of them quite high. Not suitable for anyone other than walkers. Narrow in places, but almost level.

From Cheltenham the route uses streets and passes through Pittville Park (where there are cafes and toilets). Beside Cheltenham Race Course the route is off road, then passes round the edge of an area which is used as a car park during races, and passing the race course railway station. There is a slope up to cross the track of the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway, then a rather overgrown path. There are then a few small fields which are used for horse grazing, with stiles and some gates.

After going along, and crossing, a minor road with a verge the path is very narrow where it passes behind some gardens. The route into Bishops Cleeve is mainly off road but has a couple of very short stretches on the road verge. The route then uses pavements into the centre of village.

I walked from Bishops Cleeve to Cheltenham and missed the route twice, the first time I missed an almost hidden path sign when crossing Southam Lane. And when I crossed Swindon Lane I missed the unsigned path through to Cleevelands Drive.
Navigating through the horse fields, spotting stiles and gates, was slightly tricky, but Chebis1 is correctly mapped.

Mainly rural with some reasonably quiet urban at beginning and end. There are stiles which are ok for the human walkers but bigger dogs had to be hauled over.

Great route, very enjoyable walk. Some of my group had dogs and a few of the stiles were tricky to negotiate with a big dog.
