Description
I am planning to walk and review this route, but I noted that a review of Chawil One suggested that an important bridge on the route no longer exists and realised that this would add an extra 3 miles or so to the walk. I checked the OS Maps app and determined that this comment appears to be correct, as the bridge definitely appears on the paper map I have for the area (dated 2009) but not on the latest mapping on the app. Therefore, I decided to see if I could create a better route to avoid the missing bridge.
Viewing the other Slow Ways in the area and using the paper map (OS Explorer 225) I found that a section of the Sticha One and a section of the Stiwil One routes could be linked in most part by a portion of the Pathfinder Long Distance Walk. I have created a GPX file for this new route option using GIS software (ESRI ArcGIS Pro) and have found that this is slightly shorter than Chawil One.
I have not yet walked the route but hope to shortly and will post a review as soon as I do

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

09 Jan 2024I have walked this multiple times from Chatteris as far as the Long Drove/Cuckoo Drove junction north of Over (as part of the March March March) - our route continues south through Over. A reasonably pleasant route with more variety than you might expect, and the only practical way of doing this - there is no other viable way to get across the Ouse nearby. (The bridge in Camwil1 was demolished in about 2018, and there's no safe walking route south from the bridge at Earith.) I will try and walk the Over/Willingham stretch to complete the route at some point.
Notes: 1. the small lake north of Somersham tends to flood the path in wet weather which can make the route impassable. There is a sensible alternative to the west (Short Drove/Parkhall Road/Church Street and then a footpath rejoining the existing route).
2. The Ouse crossing involves steps and a narrow gate, so isn't accessible for wheelchairs and probably pushchairs. No issues elsewhere on the route that I can remember.
The Ouse is crossed at a weir with narrow steps.
