Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

30 Jun 2021A good but challenging walk. You will encounter stiles, gates, kissing gates, steps, an uncontrolled railway crossing, and a marvelous bridge. You will also cross many fields that contained cows (or evidence that they are about). Some parts of this walk don’t appear to be well walked as there is no easily discernible footpath ….. There are quite a number of damaged stiles that proved challenging and one stile seems to have disappeared. There are a couple of sections of the route that are quite narrow that are surrounded by nettles.
The foot path from ///fonts.sketching.frosted to ///skate.pumpkin.annotated is a little tricky to follow in the latter stages but you have the option of following the Pennine bridleway if you follow the road until ///menu.round.educates.
The section between ///feathers.bloomers.backpacks and ///reprints.hoaxes.snack in Gisburn Park is not a public right of way, but a right of way exists if to travel via ///conceals.mostly.names. (You will find a café and pub in Gisburn).
The wooded section after New Laithe is tricky as it overgrown and the stile is difficult to locate (near to ///boots.younger.newlywed see picture). Nettles abound here.
The route taken from ///charm.nibbles.fearfully leads you to the missing stile. You could take the alternate path via ///dreamers.slime.slows. If you decide to walk the route as planned there is a section of wooden fence in the corner of the field that you can cross ///innovate.give.jigging.
The bridge I mentioned is at ///defensive.crispy.dairy. At the barn the footpath has been altered, go through the gate at ///unrealistic.motel.tributes, and then return to the line of the path on the OS map at ///character.surprise.thinking. The narrow nettle infested section starts at ///evaded.musician.blemishes.
