Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

29 Dec 2023 Winter

I walked this route towards the end of November 2023 from Eynsham to Charlbury. The field paths to Freeland were easy and well signposted. From Freeland there was a delightful walk through the woodland of Broad Marsh. There followed a road walk along Cuckoo Lane to the A4095 with just a rough grass verge. Crossing the A4095, there was a footpath on the other side and there are then footpaths leading to North Leigh and then on to Wilcote, all easy to follow with nothing challenging, apart from the inevitable mud. There is a tricky bit at SP366154 where the farm track bends to the right and you think this is the way to go - it isn't. Instead, go straight ahead where there appears to be no path and then up a low bank to a raised grassy track up to Ramsden Hill Longcut (lovely woodland). From here, the path descends to Finstock. Through the village, you meet the B4022 and walk along a narrow grass verge for maybe 150 metres (take care - fast traffic) and keep an eye out for the path entrance on the other side of the road. You then enter Cornbury Park and follow a well signed path through the park and then into Charlbury.
