16 Dec 2022This is a straightforward route that follows a single busy highway via the associated footpath linking Catshill with Brimsgrove.
The only respite from the traffic is a short stretch of segregated cycle path.

19 Nov 2022 (edited 20 Nov 2022)Walked from Catshill to Bromsgrove, the final part of a long walk from Sandwell & Dudley via Oldbury, Rowley Regis, Halesowen and Romsley. This route is simple and direct, but after a long day and in fading daylight I was grateful that it was so easy, and there are no obvious more interesting alternatives available. It doesn't need any route directions - almost all of it is on the pavements of Stourbridge Road, but note that the west side offers a shortcut avoiding the roundabout south of the M42 bridge.
The final pedestrianised section in Bromsgrove was in full Christmas market mode when I walked into it late on a November Saturday afternoon. This was my 100th completed SlowWay, and by the time I had walked out to the railway station it was dark.

16 Oct 2022Definitely a slow way which could be described as no-nonsense! Following the pavement of the "Salt Road" (Stourbridge Road) it takes you directly to Catshill. It's fairly busy with traffic but starting from the AE Housman statue, where I was engaged in a literary conversation with a local, past historic houses and under the M42 and sliproads to and from the M5 it has its interest. If you like garden centres, there is a massive one, with a cafe as you enter Catshill. There is also a pub shortly before you reach the meeting point by the war memorial. It's safe, direct, has no stiles and can be completed in a pair of ordinary shoes. With 600m to go I noticed a footpath that could be followed that would go away from the road and return near the end point, but it would nearly double the last section, which seems a slightly preposterous thing to do. I'm giving this route 5 stars because I don't think it can be bettered. If I walked from Catshill to Bromsgrove, this is the route I would take.
