12 Nov 2025This path is fine except for the section between Llwynfortune Farm and Glancellyn Farm at SN53380 22774. The path is blocked and impassable unless you use your walking poles as pitons! The landowner there has put up numerous signs forbidding public access. This has been reported to the Carmarthen PROW officer, and I will update when I hear back.
The whole length of the path is not well waymarked. I would recommend using an OS map rather than the slow ways app as the track deviates from footpaths in several places.
Finally, farmers in the area are in dispute with a company trying to erect pylons. This means a lot of gates are locked, so you have to climb over them. Not dog-friendly.
All in all, this route cannot be used in its current state.

04 May 2026Steve. Many thanks for this timely advice - I was about to do this tomorrow as part of the National Parks Challenge 2026. Instead I will be on the new bike route between Llandeilo and Carmarthen. John

05 May 2026The new path is a delight. It starts near the new school in Ffairfach just outside Llandeilo, on the A476. It finishes at the Carmarthen Museum with a further 2 mile walk into town along a cycle route. The route is suitable for walkers, 2 wheels and 4 wheels. There are regular warnings about sections being closer because of flooding. There are two cafes along the way.

07 Aug 2026Have added Carmllan Two - which I walked yesterday mostly using the new Tywi Valley Path - great route !
