Description
This is a modified version of Cardnew one, that uses a bit more of the Welsh Coast Path around Newport. As a result the route is half a mile shorter and appears to avoid some of the navigation issues that other reviewers have noted. It is tempting to also use the Coast Path around Cardiff, but this does add an extra mile or so to the route - perhaps a candidate for another alternative

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

15 Nov 2022February 2022. Direction: Newport to Cardiff.
Walked the coastal section of this route as part of a longer section of the Wales Coast Path walk and the end sections as part of Cardnew1 in November 2022. This route avoids the navigational and access issues around St. Brides.
This route is slightly more direct than Cardnew1, but it does miss out all the levels and the variety this adds. However, it`s a fine, bracing walk with great views of the Severn Estuary, guaranteed to blow the cobwebs away. There`s a pub at around the 6 miles point from Newport - The Lighthouse Inn, a convenient stop off point.
