Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

22 Jan 2022A pleasant and easy walk. Starting off in the centre of Canvey Island close to the high street, the route veers off from the main road and onto a quiet path in a residential area. It then joins onto a path through the Castlepoint golf course and along the wall adjacent to Benfleet Yacht Club. At the end of the path, cross over Canvey Road bridge to Benfleet, turn right and cross over the railway line - there are steps- and from there it’s a straight path towards Leigh-on-Sea.
The section from Benfleet towards Leigh on Sea was very muddy (and waterlogged in some parts). I did this walk in winter. From the path there are lovely views of Hadleigh Castle. There’s also a Salvation Army café at Hadleigh Farm where you can stop for tea and take in views of the estuary (in case you don’t mind veering off course for a bit – this will add an extra 2 miles to the journey). All in all, a nice and easy-to-follow route.
