Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

16 Dec 2022This is an interesting walk between the centre of Canvey Island and Leigh on Sea. I walked it in the reverse direction from Leigh on Sea and then caught one of many regular buses back to the train station.
The sun set as I walked and the Canvey Island section was easy to follow although on back alleyways so might be uncomfortable for some in the dark.
It was a very cold Winter's day with a heavy frost that meant the path alongside towards Benfleet was firm and easy to walk - it may not be quite so easy after a heavy rainfall.
There was a terrifying road crossing which although only across a B road had a constant stream of traffic and I noticed some bouquets of flowers indicating there had been an accident there in the past - take care!
The walk goes past the interesting Benfleet sailing club and the canvey Island golf club before taking the back alley almost all the way to the centre of Canvey. Canvey's food and drink options were uninspiring and limited. The paths were pretty flat and easy to follow thought.
