Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

This is a direct, user friendly route between two adjacent towns and their railway stations, it is also a very enjoyable walk, easy to navigsate too.

I walked this from the Redruth side as part of a longer walk and appreciated the opportunity to charge my devices at the very friendly Rowes bakery cafe in Redruth that is well kitted out with USB and three pin power points.

Camred is mostly on good paths with a few loose stone lanes and a little straightforward field walking. There are a number of large granite styles to pass - all different.

Walk Whitecross Hill with care, cars are fast here but it is only a short section between two footpaths.

Mapping through Cambourne is dissappointingly vauge but cycle route 3 is well waymarked and will take you to the station in a way that looks a lot like the the route suggested.

You cannot miss the magnificent Carn Brea near Redruth. If (like me) you must climb it I reccomend picking up the mining trtail near Carn Brea village on the western side and following it round to better defined tails up in the southern side of the Brea.

Much of this route is part of the National Cycle Network route 3 the Cornish Way and part of the Great Flat Load Trail, one of the. Mineral Tramway Trails in Cornwall. There are some short deviations which allow the walker to leave the quiet but not completely traffic free roadways. The route is largely okay for wheels but if you want to visit St Euny Church there is a small obstruction largely aimed at cyclists. All in all a fairly easy to follow and not unpleasant walk although some might prefer to walk over the top of Carn Brea which offers much better views and which could be considered as an alternative option.

I walked this route in the Redruth-Camborne direction. A fairly easy walk mostly following National Cycle Route 3 which is well waymarked. I recommend climbing to Basset Monument which adds about 30mins to the route and is well worth it. The gpx file is not accurate in Camborne but there are plenty of options to get to the end point of this walk. A 5min train ride will take you back to your start point.
