Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

A good urban route, going through as many parks as possible, without making too much of a detour. It's not the shortest route, but really quite pleasant.

I walked this route from Highbury and Islington to Camden Town. I really enjoyed it.

I liked cutting through the gardens at St Mary Magdelene, Paradise Park, Caledonian Park, and St Martin's Gardens in particular, though the connecting streets were all comfortable and interesting enough to follow. There's lots of lovely-looking pubs along the way and small moments of joy to discover. A memorial tree to Amy Winehouse is located just outside the northwest entrance to Camden Square gardens if you're interested in checking that out.

I think you could probably make a more direct route (though it'd be a challenge with all the rail lines in the area!), but I doubt you could make one that takes in as many green spaces. A really good route, all in all!.

Walked from Highbury to Camden. Enjoyable route which crosses this part of inner north London by linking a number of local green spaces. Easy walking, quiet roads and parks, plenty of refreshments.
