Description
This route is very similar to Burwic one but has the advantage of being predominantly off-road between Swanwick Shore and Burridge. A quiet, rural and green route in a fairly well-populated area, starting with predominantly wooded countryside on the east side of the Hamble river to Burridge, then fields north of Whiteley before entering woodland and rising to higher ground. The route finishes by following the old railway into Wickham

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

27 Aug 2021This is a pleasant route with a mixture of roads, paths, tracks and disused railway lines. Approximately 70% is shaded and it contains some boggy sections. It's fine for walkers but a temporary footbridge (Photo 1 and 2) makes it challenging, if not impossible for those with mobility devices. At Tapnage there is a 3/4 mile road section which is unsafe (no pavement and, in places no verge). There is no obvious way to avoid this hence only 3 stars overall.
