Description
This route is similar to Burwes 2, but routes along the beach at the Burnham end, avoiding the unnecessary roady hike through the town that most reviewers, including me, complained of. The version starts on the esplanade but you could equally well hit the beach straight away from the meeting point or at any of the sets of steps you pass, if you wish. At the Weston-super-mare end the route shows a quieter and more direct route to the meeting point outside the railway station for those who do not want to or need to experience the full Weston seaside razzamatazz. otherwise, carry on as for Burwes 2

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

21 Apr 2026This is a great coastal route. It is much nicer than Burwes 2 because it routes along the coast path along the beach instead of walking up the suburban road in Burnham. It also takes a quieter route to the station at Weston instead of going round by the town centre. You can just carry on up the esplanade if you do want to go into town.
