Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

06 Sep 2021A very pleasant walk. You will encounter stiles, gates, and minor roads without pavements. The first part of the walk is through Burscough and is a little dull, joining the canal at ///stun.sooner.tolls will mean you have a slightly longer journey but less of it will be along roads.
The walk along the canal is excellent and the path is good. The route leaves the canal to enter Rufford which seems strange as keeping on the canal until ///dunes.proposals.labels is a shorter and more pleasant route. The route incorrectly shows a left turn just after the railway crossing, it actually joins the path along the Douglas at ///installs.skinning.wants. The path isn’t brilliant on this stretch upto red bridge. I would recommend using the canal tow path from ///dunes.proposals.labels up to ///salad.roving.delays as it is a better path, shorter and is a lovely walk (I walked back using this route and saw a kingfisher).
